I became acquainted with Dr. Code when he did a phone interview on "Living for the health of it" a show on CHLY 101.7 FM that I co-host with Pam Edgar who is a Master Trainer for the Chronic Disease Self management program maintained by the University of Victoria on Vancouver Island In British Columbia. After a few discussions with Dr. Code it became very apparent he and I had very similar views on the role of nutrition in controlling chronic diseases. Dr. Code recently became my personal physician.

drbillcodemd.jpgDr. Bill Code, Anesthesiologist, author Who's in Control of your Multiple Sclerosis? After a career in brain research, including stroke, he was diagnosed with progressive Multiple Sclerosis in 1996. His recovery, based on food and supplements, turned him to Integrative Medicine. Denise, R.D., his dietitian wife, is also passionate about health recovery and anti-aging.

As Residency Program Director at the University of Saskatchewan, Dr. Code had a busy career of clinical work, research and teaching. The Financial Post Fortune 500 Edition profiled him as the quintessential baby boomer when he left his hectic lifestyle for the quieter surroundings of Vancouver Island in 1992.

When Dr. Bill Code, an MD, was diagnosed with painful multiple sclerosis (MS). He thought his normal life was over. After he and his nutritionist wife, Denise, explored everything they could find in the medical journals, they began to research integrative medicine. What they discovered changed Bill's outlook and his life. By optimizing his diet he was able to control his MS to the point that he is now able to do many of the things MS was preventing him from doing. Many of the things he learned about controlling MS with diet also apply to diabetes and so many other chronic diseases. Now he is adding his voice to the effort of this site to help teach about the health benefits of an optimized diet.

DR. Bill AND Denise Code live in Duncan, Canada. They travel extensively, lecturing on leading-edge discoveries in pain relief in addition to consulting with people who are suffering with chronic illness. They are dedicated to assisting people in pain. Bill and Denise have three children.

Dr Code's Books:

whosincontrol.jpg If you have multiple sclerosis, do you envision a downward spiral in health? Do you know someone who is struggling with this debilitating disease?
Over 300,000 Americans and over 30,000 Canadians suffer from Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a leading cause of disability in adults. In MS, the insulation around the nerves is gradually destroyed, leading to a gradual loss in the ability to move normally. Over time, function is lost and disability occurs. Too often, MS victims feel helpless & hopeless.
Who's In Control of Your Multiple Sclerosis? Pieces of the MS Puzzle is an essential guide to hope and recovery. The authors present current research and simple, little-known strategies that can halt the progression of MS. Emphasis is on safe, effective and natural solutions, based on sound scientific evidence. These solutions complement traditional medical therapies.
Learn how you can control your MS, so that MS does not control you! In 1996, at age 42, at the height of his medical career, Dr. Bill Code was diagnosed with MS and forced to retire. Prior to his diagnosis, he had a busy practice in Anesthesia and Pain Management. He was advised that rest was the best therapy. However, he was determined to find other solutions to stop his progressive deterioration.
In Who's in Control Of Your Multiple Sclerosis? Pieces of the MS Puzzle, Dr. Bill Code shares how he gained control of his MS, information that most physicians and other healthcare workers don't know.
