Hi everyone, I am Jack 3 Weeks, 2 Days ago Karma: 2
I found this board quite by accident, and am I ever glad I did. It's exactly the kind of forum I'm looking for.

Most of my life, I was probably hyperglycemic without even knowing it. When I was finally diagnosed Type II three years ago, my blood sugar averaged 474, and my A!C was over 14. To say I was in trouble was putting it mildly. I was 208 pounds, mostly sedentary and very unhappy.

My dietician really helped me. Understanding that I was a tech geek, she introduced me to the numbers concept of Glycemic Index, and that caught my attention, as I realized I could play with my sugar numbers, and basically get "instant gratification" by trying different foods and exercise on my BS levels. FUN!!!

These days I'm 158 lbs, avg 109-118 daily BS and have an A1C of 6.6.

I use a modified Atkins diet with at least an hour of aerobic exercise/weight training 5 times a week, and have never used any meds of any kind.

What I have learned in my personal experience is that consistent aerobic exercise is probably the biggest key to glycemic success, after cutting out any processed whole milk products. I had a milk addiction, but once I gave it up, it really helped.

Oh, and Arnold (not to plug) makes a bread that's called "double fiber" gives 5 grams a slice. 2 slices of that with peanut butter and youve got close to 14 fiber grams and that's just for breakfast!

I look forward to sharing, and am glad this board is here!!
