Hi Bob,

Thanks for the kind words.

As any regular to this site knows, I think the best option is to get the diet so well optimized as to not need the meds. Until then, do what ever is needed to keep the blood glucose and A1C as well controlled as possible.

There is a new class of drugs that is showing a lot of promise. They are the DPP-4 Inhibitors. Since I am not on any meds I do not have any first hand experience to relate as to better drug therapies.

My mother had neuropathy in her feet to the point where her toes had turned purple and the sensation was gone. What worked for her was:

  • 1000 mg per day of ALA (ALA is the vegetable based Omega 3)

  • 1500 mg per day Omega 3 EPA/DHA (fish oil, to get 1500 mg EPA/DHA that would be 3 1000 mg capsules that have combined EPA/DHA of 500 mg per capsule.)

  • Daily 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon

  • and a PCF ratio of 20-50-30 with heavy emphasis on the low glycemic carbs like whole grains

  • plus 27 grams of fiber per day (You may need more based on your body size. She is a smaller woman)

Are you using the Nutribase software to optimize you meals? I think that is critical to success in controlling glucose with diet. Every other method I know of has too much built in error factor.
I think it is important to get a good PCF ratio in every meal. Not just for the entire day. That was a mistake I was making when i started three years ago.

Maybe we will get a change to talk during the show. part of the reason I decided to do the show is so we would have a place where there could be dialog and instead of just individual phone calls be able to discuss these things where many people can be involved either just listening in or actively joining in the conversation. The techs at BlogtalkRadio.com tell me there is no limit to the number of listeners like there is with many of the podcasting options and there can be lots of people calling in. to find out more about the show go to BlogTalkRadio.com and check the schedule for The Game of health, Playing to Win!

I am hoping the show turns into an active forum where we can all help each other.

BTW Happy Valentines Day to you and your girls.
