Sugar is ok? 8 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 2
I am confused...I have been reading lately in the news that sugar is ok to eat, even if one is diabetic (not of any nutritional value, though). Why then, Toma, do you say one should stay away from it? Is it because of the lack of nutrient value in sugar, or that this new information is wrong or misleading? Is diabetes not the inability of breaking down sugar (lack of insulin production)? Hmmm..maybe that's what the drug companies want us to believe, rather than attribute it to poor nutrition! But then again, sugar is not nutritious...so i am totally confused! My knowledge of diabetes is rather limited , as you can see, Toma, but perhaps you could shed a bit of light on this for me? Until then, I think I'll just leave well enough alone *smiles* All i can say, really, is that this must be very contriversial, given that most people believe that sugar is so harmful to a person with diabetes,or can even lead to diabetes.
cheers, Linda
